Sourdough Surprises - November

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

You guys did an awesome job on your twists! It was so fun to see what everyone did with them, great job!

This month we are thinking Scones! We are giving you two recipes to choose from. We couldn't decide between the two, so we thought we would offer both up for you! This recipe from Wild Yeast is what you would think of a traditional "sourdough" recipe in that it requires an overnight fermentation period. But we also thought we would include this recipe, which is a "quick" recipe. You can just grab your starter from the fridge and go! Of course, you are free to use any recipe that you like, and you may flavor your scones any way you like, too.

Join us by posting your twists on October 20th, and the copy and paste the following HTML linky on your blog so everyone can see all the wonderful things we have made: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.simply-linked.com/listwidget.aspx?l=9095a327-a719-4011-a258-67058e15e6d6" ></script>

Don't have a blog but still want to bake along with us? Good! The more the merrier!! Simply bake your scones and then send an e-mail to sourdoughsurprises@gmail.com with a picture (or two!) of your delicious creations. Include your name and what you made and we'll make sure you are included in our post!

And don't forget to e-mail a picture to us so that we can add it to our slideshow! We can't wait to see all the delicious flaky scones you create!

These look amazing! I love having things made the night before too - seems effortless in the morning that way! I'm thinking perhaps a cranberry or mixed berry version? Can't wait!

this looks like fun and I'm a big sourdough baker. Is the link above for the twists or the scones? Is the deadline for the scones November 20? Thanks!!!

Hi, Last month (Oct) I made Banana Walnut Sourdough Scones~ Can I re-post that recipe with pictures? I will have a house full of family that week for Thanksgiving and I might not have time? Let me know:) Thanks~

Karen - the link above is for the scones, and we would prefer you post them on the 20th, but anytime you get them done and link up would be great! :)
Turnips - Yes! But only if you mail both Shelley and Jenni samples. For quality control purposes, you understand. :)
